TITLE I READING

What is Title 1:

Title I is a federally funded program that supports the district's efforts to meet high academic standards. This is accomplished by providing meaningful and challenging opportunities through classroom support or small group instruction. Title I support does not replace your child's regular classroom instruction.  Title I instruction will reinforce, support and enhance classroom learning.  Children are selected for the Title I program through classroom performance, teacher or parent recommendation and through formal and informal testing.  The Title I program is a partnership where students can learn best when   families, schools and communities work together.

"Children are made readers on the laps of their parents."

                                                                         ~Emille Buchwald

What reading experts say:

Reading for information is a life-long skill.  There is evidence that a parent's beliefs and attitudes about reading will directly influence children's literacy skills.  Parents who have respect for the information contained in books will pass that on to their children.

Children need to know that learning happens ALL the time, not just at school.
